Developed hand in hand with Remco Evenepoel over eight months, the S-Works Torch Remco is the lightest shoe in the pro peloton at a stunning 148.2g. Yeah, we count grams to the tenth. Yeah, we know it’s a little obsessive. But that’s how we engineered this shoe with Remco to be 3 grams lighter than it’s closest competitor*.

The S-Works Torch Remco achieves its featherweight status through a refined construction—featuring a simplified upper, a smaller carbon plate, a nylon-injected heel counter and toe cap, and a single Boa Li2
Dial. This all results in a shoe that provides everything you need and nothing you don’t in a lightweight, efficient, and comfortable package. Engineered with our Body Geometry methodology and all-new Body Geometry Last, the S-Works Torch Remco reduces forefoot pressure by 44%, while offering a balanced foot hold and optimized stiffness for uncompromising comfort and power.

Tested and trusted by Remco in his debut Tour de France, he wore the third and final prototype of the S-Works Torch Remco in five key mountain stages—4, 14, 15, 19, and 20. He attacked again and again on brutal climbs like the Col du Galibier and Pla d’Adet, trusting the shoe and Specialized shoe team with every explosive move. The prototype features orange detailing—a color that stuck around simply because it was the fabric our factory had on hand at the time—but it became something more. A nod to the time, effort, and talent that went into creating a shoe worthy of the Tour. Five mountain stages. Countless surges. Zero hesitation. The result? S-WORKS TORCH REMCO - Made in Racing

In October 2023, Remco approached Nick Gosseen, Leader of Equipment, and Ashley Sult, Manager of Footwear Development, asking for a lightweight shoe for him to race in the 2024 Tour de France on stages with long, sustained climbs.

Nick and Ashley had been ideating a super light shoe for quite some time with the Human Performance team, but now they had the perfect partner and reason to bring this lightweight shoe to life. Two years before Remco Evenepoel signed his first UCI World Tour contract, the Human Performance team kicked off research on outsole stiffness in cycling shoes. The idea with this research was for the team to define an ideal stiffness target, which would result in reducing unnecessary outsole material, making it possible to engineer a super lightweight shoe. It’s almost as if the Human Performance team predicted Remco’s needs before he was even in the World Tour.

Every insight from six years of studies, three published papers, and a relentless pursuit to understand how outsole stiffness impacts power and efficiency came to life in the S-Works Torch Remco. Remco was
at the center of this development—testing, providing feedback, and helping the team fine-tune a shoe that could match his explosive style. Because when our riders ask for something, we create it in partnership with them. That’s made in racing.
