The features of the ATLAS
The sun is rising, your adventure begins. Ready to lose yourself and time, you climb onto your ATLAS at dawn. At this point, your ATLAS is already prepared for any adventure. It has all the mounting points you could possibly imagine.
How much luggage do you want to take along on your bikepacking tour? The ATLAS answers with a resounding ‘yes’. It is approved for a system weight of 135 kg. But that's not all: the luggage and storage options of the ATLAS don't stop at mere mounting points.
For that little bit of extra storage or as a compartment for essentials: the down tube of the 8. series contains a spacious, rattle-free storage compartment – the Prep Pocket.
It closes tightly with a lever and offers space for snacks, a tube or the bag designed specifically for this compartment, the Prep Pack. The Prep Pack can hold tools, a cartridge or a couple of tyre levers, for example.
Inside the pocket lid, you can also attach something with a strap. In addition, a special bolt in the frame prevents the bag from slipping down. The velcro strap on the bag allows you to quickly see whether you have maxed out the volume of the pack so that it fits perfectly into the Prep Pocket.
And speaking of maxing out: a second pack (only included in delivery once, item number 551000300) would also fit into the Prep Pocket.
The Hawaii Rack. Already factory-fitted with integrated lighting on the ATLAS 6.8 EQP, it can be retrofitted to all other new ATLAS models without restriction. The Hawaii Rack provides you with additional storage space for various Hawaiian pizzas (be careful if you're riding with it in Italy), pack sacks or anything under 5 kg that you want to secure there. It can be purchased from FOCUS dealers under item number 890005600. Unfortunately, it is NOT compatible with the first generation of the ATLAS.
The Adventure Rack continues to be fully compatible with all ATLAS models. With up to three straps each, one pack sack can be easily attached to each side of the Adventure Rack. This keeps the centre of gravity low at the rear and maximises the packhorse potential of the ATLAS. It can be purchased from FOCUS dealers under item number 890003900.
The geometry of the 8. series has also been fine-tuned. A steeper head angle and shorter trail result in responsive, sensitive handling. With an even shorter wheelbase, the 8. series is extremely reactive and easy to manoeuvre. In addition, less stack ensures a raised, even sportier position. Here, too, the seat tube has been made slightly shorter to allow for more flex in the seat post and thus greater comfort.
Ride till sunset and beyond
These additional smart features take you even further.
All ATLAS models are tubeless-ready and come with 45 mm wide tyres. If you want to ride tubeless, all you have to do is remove the inner tubes, install the valves, fill with sealant, and you're ready to go. The 8.9 is delivered directly without inner tubes, with valves fitted and sealant included.
OK, this point isn't essential, but with levelled welds (putty) on the 6. series and the clean C.I.S. stem with integrated cable routing on all models, your bike simply looks chic. In addition, the paintwork on every ATLAS 8.9 is hand-painted, making each of these frames truly unique.
The maximum tyre clearance on the fork is 53 mm. The rear wheel can fit tyres up to 48 mm wide for the 6. series and 45 mm wide for the 8. series.
We probably don't need to say much here. Road Boost is a thing of the past. All new ATLAS models come with the well-known 12x100/12x142 axle dimensions and BSA bottom bracket – for easier maintenance.
